New Church Meeting Hall

Fr. Kevin's Announcement

I wish to speak briefly this morning about our future development plans.  As you are aware during the last 7 years the Pastoral Council have been organising various fund raising events towards the refurbishment of our hall. We are most grateful to them and to all who supported their efforts.

Since the summer of 2012 many of you have been generously supporting The Diocesan Growing in Faith Project.   This fund raising effort comes to fruition next summer and the percentage of the money which will be allocated to our Parish is designated by Charity law, to be used for the hall refurbishment project.

In 2011 the Pastoral Council highlighted why such a future development was needed.

*         This parish had no proper meeting room.  Currently we are using the Presbytery, i.e. the priests' library and on some occasions even the dining room.

*         The lack of any facility where parishioners could meet in comfort to have a coffee and a chat after all Masses.

*         The hall kitchen needs to be modernised and more user friendly

*         The limited storage area is becoming increasingly chaotic and needs some major re-planning.

*         In recent years there has been the additional problem of inadequate heating and the present system has to be replaced.

I appreciate that some of you expressed your concern re the loss of car parking space.  The Pastoral Council have listened and the new development will be located at the present hall entrance - thus forfeiting two spaces.

A recent professional survey of our parking area has indicated that with proper lay out we can gain a minimum of 3 extra space" , when the extension is complete we will implements the new layout, marking out the parking bays. This will also make parking easier and more accessible.

This new location for our meeting room gives us the opportunity of creating a new and more attractive church entrance porch from the carpark.

Last September the Pastoral Council with the assistance of an Architect, have drawn up preliminary plans for this development and will be submitting it to Barnet Council for outline planning permission. It is hoped that this work will take place from late May to early October 2017

These outline plans will be on display in the hall on this coming Thursday January 12th from 7.30 pm to 8.30pm. Members of the Parish Pastoral Council will be happy to discuss them with you.

All are welcome.
